How it’s Made
It all starts out on the Juneau Icefield where Alaska Icefield Expeditions operates two dog sled camps with a lot of dogs and dog waste.

We clean up after the dogs all day in their yards and at the end of the day we walk the trails and clean up all the waste that is left. Every three days we collect 4,000 pounds of dog waste.

Our pumping engineer pumps all the barrels when they are full. The waste is pumped into our truck and then transported to larger receptical.

After the waste is transported to Community Waste Solutions it is run through an extensive screening and heating process. The whole time the waste/compost is in the facility it is monitored by a computer system to make sure that it never drops below temperature.
